Internships


InternshipsThe MacArthur Memorial offers unpaid internships to qualified candidates. The main prerequisite is a passion for history, and students with an interest in education, marketing, archival work, exhibit planning, podcasting and/or web design are encouraged to apply.

The Memorial offers a small number of internships in the Fall, Spring and Summer semesters. Internships are offered in the following areas:



Archives


  • Catalogue books, maps, photographs and documents
  • Create inventories and finding aids for future researchers
  • Scan and document photographs and other materials


Education Department


  • Write articles for the Memorial’s E-Newsletter
  • Assist in creating new education programs
  • Assist in the production of the Memorial’s monthly Podcast
  • Event Planning


Curatorial


  • Cataloging collection items
  • Researching selected artifacts, photographs, etc.

Competitive candidates will have an interest in history and museum operations, and will be able to commit to a work schedule of at least 10 hours a week. Competitive candidates will also possess:

  • excellent communication skills (both written and oral)
  • basic knowledge of U.S. and/or World History 1861-1964


Eligibility


Internships are open to current college students, recent graduates, and graduate students.
