General Douglas MacArthur Army Leadership Awards

General Schoomaker, Captain Steelhammer, Arthur Diamonstein

General Peter J. Schoomaker, Chief of Staff, U.S. Army and Foundation Chairman Arthur A. Diamonstein presented the 17th Annual General MacArthur Leadership Awards at the Pentagon on May 26, 2004. These awards recognized 24 company grade officers and one warrant officer in the active Army, Army Reserve and Army National Guard. A formal board of Army officers selects these recipients on the basis of who best demonstrates the ideas of Duty-Honor-Country.

The recipients and their families participated in a number of official activities during the three days they were in Washington, DC. In addition to the formal presentation ceremonies, they met with senior leaders in the Army, National Guard and Army Reserves, participated in a wreath laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown and were honored at a breakfast and numerous luncheons.
