Allender was a young soldier from Ottumna, Iowa, who served with the 168th Regiment of MacArthur’s 84th Brigade, Rainbow Division, in World War I.
Included in this collection is the diary Allender kept while in WWI. Extensive in its observations at the beginning, after the first combat action the entries were short and to the point.
Also included are publications about the men serving in the Iowa Regiment and histories of the Rainbow Division and World War I.
