MacArthur Memorial Photographic Collection

The MacArthur Memorial photo collection provides an unparalleled view into the life and times of General Douglas MacArthur. Comprised of over 60,000 photo images and 130 photo albums, the collection includes photos covering the following areas of research:

MacArthur Family
1815

 

General Douglas MacArthur
(1880-1964)


World War I
(1914-1918)

 

Philippine Insurrection
(1899-1901)

World War II
(including the campaigns in the
Philippine Islands,
Papua-New Guinea, Borneo and the general area of the Pacific)


  Japanese Surrender
(1945)

 

The Korean War
(1951-1953)

  In the MacArthur Memorial's rare photo collection are some 30,000 images of the American occupation of Japan. This special collection of photo images by Dimitri Boria recaptures the mood of Japan during the occupation period in color photography. Of special interest to researchers are images of the Emperor and Imperial family.


The photographic holdings are open to researchers of all ages. The General Douglas MacArthur Foundation provides photo duplication for a nominal cost for all photographs that are not restricted by copyright.
