Norfolk Historical Society Lecture Series: Operation Torch

Wednesday, October 11, 2017

Please join us the evening of October 11, 2017 for a Norfolk Historical Society Lecture. Christopher Kolakowski will give a presentation about Operation Torch during World War II. Operation TORCH, the invasion of North Africa in November 1942, represented the first large-scale American ground commitment to the war against Germany. It was also a technical achievement since one-third of troops, George Patton’s Western Task Force, sailed for Africa directly from Norfolk and Hampton Roads. TORCH today remains the longest amphibious assault in the history of warfare. This event is free and open to the public. Questions? Contact the Norfolk Historical Society: info@norfolkhistorical.org.
